The pain doesn't sound insignificant to you. Come to terms with it, acknowledge that it's hurting you, but you don't have to let it hurt you in the present moment, when you and your ex are "in the past", as you say. It's easier said than done, but that's what's put me onto a better recovery path. I hope you have a nice day! :)

Kay Nielsen (Danish-American, 1886-1957)
Kay Nielsen was an art nouveau illustrator who specialized in books for children. He worked as a concept artist for the Walt Disney company from 1937-1941. His work was used in Night on Bald Mountain and Ave Maria in Disney’s Fantasia. By the 1950’s, his style had fallen out of fashion, and he died in poverty in Los Angeles.
